The paper describes the dispute between the State and the Church regarding Communion during the time of infectious diseases. Specific examples of the dispute during the administration of the Church, first by Metropolitan and then by Patriarch Dimitrije, are given. In separate parts of the paper, the arguments of the Church and the State are analyzed, the reasons for the ban from the perspective of church elders, as well as their opinion on the back ground of the dispute, legal solutions on jurisdiction and measures that church authorities took to overcome the dispute. The paper proves that behind the good relations between state and church authorities in the public eye, there was also a major conflict, which affected the essence of the Church’s activities.
